HEAD TO TOE TRAVEL LOOK

Traveling over Thanksgiving is complicated enough; keep your outfit simple.

May we suggest a wrap coat? Think of them as lush, wearable blankets that tie at the waist (or, better yet, a more socially acceptable version of the Snuggie® that can actually be worn in public). In all seriousness, we’re loving the easy, luxe chicness that a wrap coat imparts to any outfit. Plus, the belted waist silhouette is practically universally flattering. We adore this camel version by Totême. Pair with black separates like a cashmere turtleneck and stretchy trousers. Your all-black ensemble will not only let your cool coat and accessories stand out, but it will also fare well in the car or on an airplane. Not to mention, a monochrome palette makes packing a cinch. And don’t forget a classic duffle to complete your look.

HEAD TO TOE HOLIDAY MEAL

All-black will keep you looking slim, even if you're stuffed with stuffing.

The perfect Thanksgiving dinner outfit is equal parts stylish and forgiving should you happen to indulge too heartily in the evening’s fare. A beautiful, flow-y kimono jacket, like this style by Anna Sui, is a great solution. It’s festive, easy-to-wear and effortlessly chic. In keeping with our philosophy above, let the jacket shine and keep the rest of the outfit streamlined in black. Black leather leggings look polished and add edge to the bohemian kimono top. This pair by Rag & Bone has the added advantage of an elastic waistband (hello, pumpkin pie!), as does this “vegan” faux leather pair by BlankNYC. Dressy, lace-up flats are a comfortable alternative to heels and ankle boots. These by Aquazzura are an investment, but are truly versatile and almost seasonless. We also love this more wallet-friendly pair by Jeffrey Campbell. Finish off the look with a long, gold lariat or pendant necklace.

GIFTS FOR THE WEE SET

It’s holiday time. Whether you're getting gifts for your own kids, nieces and nephews, or anyone in the wee set, these child-approved websites make gifting a cinch. These great finds should keep the little ones preoccupied during the cold winter season.

TOYS

Fat Brain Toys is a mother’s dream. They have everything from firefighter costumes  to magic sets to personalized name puzzles. Check out their gift bot  to help you sort through everything. One Step Ahead is another one-stop shop with toys ranging from a V8 Driver racecar simulator to a karaoke machine and mic setFor Small Hands has great musical instruments. Lake Shore Learning is a great source for finding the educational toys that teachers use in their classrooms.

CUSTOM/ARTSY GIFTS

Pottery Barn Kids is another excellent source. We love their monogrammable flannel nightgowns and pajama sets. Also of note are their luggage sets. Not to forget, Promises NYC, where you’ll find almost every imaginable toy that you can have customized with a kid’s name. For artsy gifts, there’s Sweet William and MoMA Kids. And for last minute gifts, we love diapers.com, as many items are available for next-day shipping.

DRESS-UP

Little girls love sparkle. They also love to wear tutus to school. Here’s one from Crew Cuts that is whimsical yet wearable outside the house. For boys, check out the glow-in-the-dark shop. Atsuyo et Akiko makes the coolest bracelets and headbands. Also check out the Moulin Roty storybook flashlights, where kids can use light to project a story. Also these cat ear hair clips from Sweet William are absolutely adorable.

BOOKS

Books of Wonder Shop offers everything from classics to of-the-moment, must-have reads for kids. We love relying on their book suggestions divided up by age group. And to top it off, try a custom bookmark!
